MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities)

I have been dealing with MCS for a long time. Perfumes, car fumes, any number of chemicals can cause migraines and/or asthmatic reactions.

A lot of ‘unscented” products aren’t. When you actually look at the ingredients, they have  scents added or what they call “masking scents.” Perfumes, especially, are not regulated and can contain some frightening things.

Over the years it’s been hard find things I can use. I finally gave up on all the buying and throwing away. These are some of the recipes I use:

Apple Cider Toner

1 tsp loose green tea
1 cup of distilled water
1 tsp of raw Apple cider vinegar (with the mother)

Bring the water to a boil and steep your tea for 5 minutes.

Allow the green tea to cool completely.

Add Apple cider vinegar into a glass bottle. Add the cooled green tea.

Shake up your bottle and you’re green tea apple cider vinegar toner is ready to use.

Honey Face Wash

1/2 cup raw honey
1/4 cup aloe vera gel

Add to a pump jar and shake to combine.

“Perfume”

1/2 cup distilled water
3/8 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp lemon extract

Just mix it together and add to a spray bottle.

Lotion

In measuring cup, heat to no more than 110 degrees: 1 1/2 c + 1 Tb distilled water

In the saucepan, combine and heat to 100 degrees:
1 Tb Emulsifying Wax (or Skin Conditioner)
2 Tb Stearic Acid
1 Tb Glycerin
2 Tb. Mineral oil
1 Tb. sesame oil (or 1/4 c + 1 Tb oil)
1 Tb Aquapor

(The oils will continue to heat and it shouldn’t go over 110 degrees)

Pour water into oil mixture.

Set the pan in a bowl of ice water and use a the stick mixer to combine then use a plastic fork to stir it until it comes to room temperature and thickens.

Finish with the stick mixer again.

Use a funnel and strainer to pour into a 16 oz bottle.
