Notes for Samuel Hale
Before he went with a group from Newbury to settled a town they called Woodbridge in New Jersey. Mr. Hale was a leading member of this new town. He was elected marshal of the township court in 1670-1692, Constable (1680) and an associate justice of the same court (1683-1692) and became known as “Judge Hale.” He was also leader of the squad to erect fortifications in 1675 and lieutenant in the military company (1682-1697) and justice of the peace (1700).
