Served in the Revolutionary War. He served in Captain Ebenezer Allen's company of Colonel Samuel Herrick's Vermont Rangers at the Battle of Bennington; in 1780 he served in Captain John Spafford's company; in 1781 he served under his brother-in-law, Captain Jacob Wood, in Colonel Lee's regiment.
