At the time of his death was the last Revolutionary' soldier in Tolland.260

Served in the Revolutionary War. Enlisted as a private May 9, 1775. Served at the Siege of Boston. Discharged December 17, 1775.261

Enlisted, September, 1777, as a private under Captain Johnson, in the Conn. Militia; service two |months. Enlisted May, 1778, for six months as a minute man under Captain Elijah I Robinson, Colonel Enos (Conn.). Enlisted September, 1779, for two months, as a private, Captain AVood. Was six weeks on board a privateer, name not stated, and was in a battle. Enlisted June 1, 1780, for six months, as a private. Cap- j

In his application for a pension, Samuel mentions that he enlisted as a substitute for his father 7 Sept 1777, but there is no record that Shubael, himself ever served.263,264
