Notes for Jael (Spouse 1)
Jael bore a son by either Thomas Jones or Nicholas White. Although many researchers assumed that she married first a man named Jones, based upon the will of John Smith, that assumption is disproved by the Court record and by the record of her marriage to John Smith, which reads "John Smith, Senir, married to Jaell Packer, of Bridgwater, the 15th of Nouember, 1672." Jael was fined £10 for fornication in the court cases that she brought against Thomas Jones and Nicholas White for having commited "uncleaness" with her. This writer doubts that Jael knew which of the men was the father of her first child, as the boy bore the given name of one and the surname of the other.
920Nicholas Jones was born 21 Feb 1672 in Taunton, MA.
