He was by trade a maltster in Watertown, and had a grist mill on Chester Brook, on some land granted to his father by the Plymouth Company; he was made a freeman May 31, 1671. He was chosen survc)or in 1677, tythingman in 1679, and was a selectman in 1684 and 1690.
