Notes for Robert Long
The registers of the Cathedral at St. Albans, near London recorded the births of six of his children between 1615 and 1629, and also his first marriage.1281

He arrived on the Defence (part of a Winthrop Fleet) in July 1635.1278

In 1636 he started the Three Cranes Inn at Charlestown, which remained in his family for nearly a century. The building had been built in 1629 at the foot of town hill. It was occupied by the First Church of Charlestown and later was call the “Great House” and used as the Town Hall. It was burned down 17 June 1777, when Charlestown was set afire by British troops evacuating the city.1282
