Notes for Edmund Littlefield
Called Edward in his father’s will, dated 21 Oct 1618.

About 1636 he came to America with his oldest son. He was in England when his wife became pregnant with 2nd Francis, but not there at the time of a lawsuit brought against him and his brother in Feb. 1635/36. His wife sailed for New England on the Bevis in May of 1638 with six children and two servants.1014, 1015

About that lawsuit, which named Edmund and Nicholas as defendants:The amount in the lawsuit seems to be 16 pounds. The lawsuit had something to do with Edmund buying some wool and not paying for it. His brother, Nicholas, also named in the lawsuit did reply to the effect that he didn't know anything about it and that Edmund did the buying.

He is known as "the father of Wells". In 1643 he joined the Rev. John Wheelwright (Antinominans) in the purchase of a large tract of land on the Maine coast which is now the town of Wells, ME. By 1653, the Littlefields had invested a dozen years and extensive land holdings. They also had mills in operation on three rivers. There is a plaque in Wells (next to the Webhannet Falls - on the site of his mill) stating that his sawmill and gristmill were the first permanent structures in the town.1016
Notes for Agnes (Annis) (Spouse 1)
She crossed the ocean with six children age 2 to 14 in her care. One interesting note: her will first mentions her three daughters instead of her sons.1013
