Thomas emigrated to New England with his mother and stepfather, Henry Dow and continued to live with his stepfather after his mother's death in 1640, going with him to New Hampshire by 1644.

On 3 Oct 1649 Henry Dow made a deed of gift to Thomas "in fulfillment of a promise made to his wife at the time of their marriage," of ten acres and some tracts of fresh meadow and of salt meadow and one share of the cow commons.809
