Notes for Richard (Spouse 1)
He was first mentioned as living in Dorchester, MA. He was one of the original proprietors of Dorchester, MA Bay Colony in 1635. May 10, 1648, Richard with William and Daniel Holbrook, of Dorchester, took Freeman's Oaths at Springfield, MA. April 8, 1653 he (along with Robert Williams and Daniel Whithead) purchased the first lot of land from the Indians at Huntington, Long Island, near Oyster Bay. There he built the first house and there his son Abel was born, the first white child to be born in Huntington, Long Island. February 6, 1657 or 1658, he moved to Milford where he died in 1670. His wife, Agnes, survived him a few years. By his will we know that John, Daniel and Abigail were married before his death.
