He established himself in Tolland, CT prior to 1767. He was a large land owner and one of his occupations was a tanner. He was among those who marched to Lexington, MA in answer to the alarm of April 19, 1775. He took an active part in both civil and military affairs thoughout and after the Revolutionary War. Later he became captain of the militia.309
